Quem sou eu...

I really don't like Quickmatch; I think it's lame. If you think someone's pretty awesome or kind of cute, there are other ways to let them know than having them judge other people in the process.

Awkward, but embraced it and moved on to other things.

Delaying the Real World with public service (also known as decreasing world suck) and eventually graduate school. This delay isn't exactly working though. Blame should fall squarely on bills. Would continue living in Michigan if there were graduate schools and jobs available to suit future life plans. However, the worst umemployment rate in the nation impedes this wish.

Would cook and bake more if the kitchen was bigger and contained a dishwasher. And if the good, healthy food wasn't so damn expensive.

Often bemoans that being a man is cheaper than being born with lady-parts.

Laughs at scenesters, emos, ridiculously pretentious hipsters, gawths, and people with visibly bad tattoos/body mods.

Actually a middle-aged southern cat-lady and not a recent midwestern college graduate. What with the knitting, the cat, and the y'alls.

Grammar and spelling nerd, and visibly cringes at unironic 'net-speak and misuse (or complete lack of use) of punctuation, especially the possessive apostrophe and Oxford comma. However, cannot seem to avoid run-on sentences or dangling participles.

Read the Twilight series for the lawlz, and mostly regrets it. On a lazy crusade to warn off potential future readers.

Sarcastic and bitchy, but only to people who can take it or deserve it.

Penchant for making poor life decisions. However, this has resulted in some decent bad-date stories, so at least someone gets good out of it.

Born into religion, but now knows the Thumb decently well after living in four different places thanks to church politics. Thinks God is pretty rad, but some of the people who use God and his posse as crutches or excuses are not so rad. Hearty disdain for organized religion, but still goes to church on a semi-regular basis.

More often than not, comes out of yarn or book stores slightly more poor. It's not an addiction, I CAN STOP ANYTIME.

Would rather vacuum than do dishes. Really misses having a dishwasher.

Really hates being called "cutie," "babe," etc.

O que estou fazendo da vida

I just graduated from MSU with a BA in History and a certification in Museum Studies.

Instead of prancing off to graduate school and even more debt, I'm taking the year off to work with a college campus through a government grant working as a sort of volunteer coordinator.

After this, I will hopefully have some money and an acceptance letter for a graduate school in hand. Then prancing ensues to a non-Michigan university to get a Masters in either Museum Education or Museum Studies.

O meu forte é

OkCupid: agora em inglês
Listening and empathy.

I'm also a decent cook and maker of baked goods.

And road trips! However, I'm a terrible passenger and have a habit of falling asleep if I'm not the one driving.

Hugs.

Non-professional, untrained backrubs.

O que mais chama atenção em mim

OkCupid: agora em inglês
I've never asked anyone what their first impression of me was. I guess I need to start.

Livros, filmes, músicas e cozinhas

OkCupid: agora em inglês
Books:
Currently reading: The Secret History of the American Empire by John Perkins and American Gods by Neil Gaiman.
I readily admit that I have a soft spot for well-written teen lit (John Green and Maureen Johnson, mostly). Don't even get me started on that crap Twilight). Terry Pratchett is amazing, and Piers Anthony is pretty rad too. I recently found The Kite Runner, The Red Tent, Atonement, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, American Gods, Paper Towns, and Good Omens to be really good books.

Movies:
My Netflix queue currently has over 80 entries: some classics, cheesy horror (mostly zombie movies), sci-fi/fantasy, historical films, indie films, action movies, just plain bad movies, and foreign films. Some favorites include:
Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Ever After, Moulin Rouge, The Mummy, Lord of the Rings trilogy, the original Star Wars trilogy, 1776, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, The Princess Bride, Mel Brooks films, Clue, most Gene Kelly musicals, Saved!, Amelie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, X-Men, Ironman], Once, Amelie, The Dark Knight, the Evil Dead trilogy, The Fifth Element, and Can't Hardly Wait.

Television:
The first two seasons of Heroes, 30 Rock, US and UK versions of The Office, House before Season 4, Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica, Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, Torchwood, Carnivale, Six Feet Under, Dead Like Me, BlackAdder, Big Love, Life on Mars (UK), Ashes to Ashes, Weeds, Blackpool, Scrubs, The X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Lost, Coupling before series four, Veronica Mars, Firefly, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog!, Futurama, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Pushing Daisies, and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

Music:
I have a wide variety of music on my iTunes; on the scale of Loving-Top-40 and Thinking-Pitchfork-Is-The-Second-Coming, I'm somewhere in between but definitely leaning towards to Pitchforkian side. Some favorites right now include The Avett Brothers, Ted Leo + Pharmacists, Chris Thile/Nickel Creek, The Swell Season/The Frames, Spoon, The Hush Sound, Barenaked Ladies, Jon Brion, The Hold Steady, New Pornographers, She & Him,Girl Talk, Cake, Electric Six, The White Stripes, Jenny Lewis, and The Mountain Goats.
In my car, it's a toss-up between my iPod and NPR when I'm in range. I listen to NPR-ish podcasts at work.

Food:
Well, I like to cook and bake, which sucks when good nutritious food is getting more expensive and you're on a very fixed budget. And lazy.
I have a soft spot for Chinese and Indian food. I'm slowly liking Thai and exploring Mexican-esque chains (mostly Chipotle. NOM NOM). I try to stay away from other chain restaurants, though, mostly because local ones are cheaper with better food.

Games:
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. 3
Duck Hunt (even though I'm terrible)
Street Fighter II
Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Majora's Mask just wasn't as good.)
Mario Kart 64
Mario Party
Warcraft II & III
Starcraft
Old-school Pokemon

Eu passo muito tempo pensando em

Currently:
Imaginative ways to curse.
How college kids should learn to read their damn emails when I send out useful imformation.
Current gas prices versus the distance to see friends around the state.
Should I spend my money grocery-shopping at Meijer, or go see that amazing band?
Are there new lolcats up?
How snarky people are kind of sexy.

Em uma típica sexta à noite eu...

One of the following, depending on seasonal availability:
*Bumming around my apartment being nommed by my kitteh
*Hanging out with my posse
*At a certain East Lansing bar with the legal-age, pro-drinking portion of said posse for $5 mugs of Long Islands and raucous renditions of such timeless classics as "Sweet Caroline" and "Don't Stop Believing", resisting the temptation to rickroll during karaoke.

A coisa mais pessoal que vou admitir aqui

OkCupid: agora em inglês
Raw tomatoes, mayo, and ranch dressing gross me out. I can't even stand the smell of the latter two.

My dad raised me on a healthy TV diet of The Golden Girls, This Old House, and Star Trek: The Next Generation.

I'd do Seth Rogen.

You like rocking out (but not being a douchetruck) at shows.

You appreciate sarcasm.

You have a better conversation starter than "hey how r u." Learn to spell properly, dammit.

You're a big geeky dude with some social skills and want to get some Beaners.

And, as I told my dear ballet_rockstar, you're not a skeezy creeper redneck or a desperate middle-aged man.
